Failure to find an ISAM (installable indexed sequential access method) has several possible causes.
If the data source is a Microsoft Office 2010 file (.xslx or .accdb), install the 32-bit version of the Microsoft Access Database Engine 2010 Redistributable from the Microsoft Download Center: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=13255.
If the data source is a Microsoft Office 2007 file (.xlsx or .accdb), install the 2007 Office System Driver: Data Connectivity Components from the Drivers page.
If your data source is not a Microsoft Office 2007 file, or if installing the 2007 Office System Driver does not resolve the issue, review the following Microsoft knowledge base article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/209805.
ImportantBecause the steps in this Microsoft KB article require you to edit the registry, it's a good idea to engage your IT team before you follow them.
The article lists several .dll files that could be causing an issue. In Tableau, the Msexc40.dll file causes the issue. Follow the steps in that article to re-register the component with the Windows operating system.
