Use LiveWeb to display live Tableau Server views in your PowerPoint presentation and refresh the views without having to leave a slideshow.
Important: Tableau does not support or test compatibility with third party applications like LiveWeb. This article is intended to provide general guidance on certain configurations that may allow Tableau to work with PowerPoint using the LiveWeb add-in.
Set up PowerPoint to display live webpages
Download LiveWeb to your computer. For example, download LiveWeb from http://skp.mvps.org/liveweb.htm.
Start PowerPoint and select PowerPoint Options.
In the PowerPoint Options dialog box, select Add-Ins.
At the bottom of the Add-Ins tab, in the Manage list, select PowerPoint Add-ins, and then click Go.
In the Add-Ins dialog box, click Add New.
In the Add New PowerPoint Add-In dialog box, browse to the location of the "livewebfor2007" folder, open it, select LiveWeb, and then click OK.
The LiveWeb add-in now appears in the Add-Ins dialog box.
Embed a live Tableau Server view in your PowerPoint presentation
Open your PowerPoint presentation, click the Add-Ins tab,and then select Web Pages.
In the LiveWeb wizard, click Next.
On the #1 page, type the URL of the Tableau view you want to display in the PowerPoint slide, and then click Add.
When you have added all the views to your presentation, click Next.
On the #2 page, specify whether you want the view to refresh automatically in real time, and then click Next.
On the #3 page, specify the size and location of the view on the slide, and then click Next.
On the #4 page, click Finish.
When a message is displayed stating that the view has been successfully embedded, click OK.
Save and close the slideshow, then run it to verify that the view was embedded successfully.
