Unable to Open Workbook With Custom SQL in Citrix

Issue

When trying to open a workbook in Citrix that contains long custom SQL code on a single line, Tableau Desktop  stops responding and has to be shut down.

The issue only occurs when opening a workbook, not when creating the initial connection to custom SQL and saving the workbook.

Environment

  • Tableau Desktop 
  • Citrix virtual desktop

Resolution

Reformat the custom SQL query to span multiple lines.

Cause

Citrix is unable to parse the lengthy custom SQL code in the workbook.
