Unable to Dual Axis Charts Settings of Each Axis Separately

Published: 02 Nov 2016
Last Modified Date: 27 Jun 2017

Issue

When creating a dual axis, changing the marks label settings in the All marks card may inadvertently cause labels to not appear as expected.

Environment

Tableau Desktop

Resolution

In order to display marks labels as expected, change the marks label settings on the individual marks cards first instead of the "All' marks card, unless the labels should be the same on each axis.

Note: An example of how to format different axis of a dual axis chart can be found in the video available in this article: Creating a Dual Axis Bar Chart with Multiple Measures.

Cause

Creating a dual axes chart will assign an individual marks card to each axis, while an 'All' marks card also appears. The "All" settings can interfere with the individual axis marks cards settings.
