Issue

Unable to connect to Oracle OBIEE from Tableau Desktop.

Environment

  • Tableau Desktop
  • Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition (OBIEE).

Resolution

Use one of the following workarounds:
  • Follow the steps in Tableau and ODBC.
  • Connect to the Oracle database used by OBIEE. For more information, see Oracle in Tableau Help.

Cause

Oracle OBIEE is not a supported data source. 

Additional Information

  • When using the generic ODBC data connection with an unsupported data source, success often varies and full compatibility with Tableau features cannot be guaranteed.
