Trusted Ticket Signs users Back Out

Published: 16 Feb 2018
Last Modified Date: 16 Feb 2018

Issue

Using Internet Explorer (IE) 11 on Windows7, when accessing embedded views on Tableau Server 10.4.0, a trusted ticket is redeemed and users are signed back out immediately. The Tableau Server cookies are dropped by Internet Explorer (IE).

Environment

  • Tableau Server 10.4.0 to 10.4.3 and 10.5.0
  • Internet Explorer 11
  • Windows 7

Resolution

Option 1

As a Tableau Server Administrator, upgrade to Tableau Server 10.4.4 and 10.5.1. For more information, see Upgrading Tableau Server in Tableau Help.

Option 2

As an alternative workaround, use another web browser (Chrome, Firefox etc.).

Cause

P3P Policy has likely been removed from the configuration. IE 11 and Windows 7 still require the usage of the P3P policy.

This behavior is related to a known issue (ID: 703148) which has been fixed in a recent release of Tableau Server.

Additional Information

Views embedded into a page in a different domain than Tableau Server, and authenticated using trusted tickets, would sign out immediately after signing in when loaded in Internet Explorer.
