Issue

When executing "sudo ./initialize-tsm –accepteula", the following error may occur:

"Initialization cannot continue because the user account 'tableau' does not have the primary group: 'tableau'.
Tableau Server will not function correctly without primary enrollment in 'tableau'.
Either ensure user has the proper primary group (using 'usermod -g tableau tableau'), or use command line options '--unprivileged-user' or '--privileged-user' to pick a different username and allow this script to create it with proper group membership."

Environment

Tableau Server on Linux

Resolution

Either ensure the user has the proper primary group (using 'usermod -g tableau tableau'), or use command line options '--unprivileged-user' or '--privileged-user' to pick a different username and allow this script to create it with proper group membership.

Cause

Either the tableau user already existed on the computer before installation, or a process on the computer has changed the tableau user or group.
