Issue

When creating two or more sets with conditions that depend on each other, Tableau Desktop quits unexpectedly.

Environment

Tableau Desktop 10.2 - 10.4

Resolution

Upgrade to Tableau Desktop 10.5 or a newer version. For more information, see Upgrade Tableau Desktop.

 

Cause

This behavior is related to a known issue with ID 647599 which has been corrected in more recent versions.

Additional Information

In Tableau Desktop 10.5, creating sets whose definitions reference each other will generate an error message:

Field [...] contains a circular reference.
