Tableau Desktop Logs Are Being Generated Across Multiple Folders

Issue

When generating logs for Tableau Desktop, sometimes logs for the same activity end up in different folders (ex: standard Logs folder and the backup logs folder.)

Environment

Tableau Desktop

Resolution

Ensure all instances of Tableau Desktop are completely closed before making any changes to the "Logs" folder in My Tableau Repository (ex: renaming, moving, etc.)

Cause

If the default Logs folder is modified (renamed, moved, copied, etc.) while Tableau Desktop is open, a new Logs folder will be generated but Tableau Desktop will send log information to both the original, and the new folder.
