Issue

When using a single value drop-down filter configured to show only relevant values, the filter might display a value of (All) when only one relevant value is available.

Environment

Tableau Desktop

Resolution

  • Upgrade to Tableau Desktop 9.3.6 and later versions or 10.0.1 and later versions. For more information, see Upgrading Tableau Desktop
  • Ensure that "Show (All)" is not selected in the filter customization menu.

Cause

This behavior is related to a known issue that has been corrected in more recent releases.

More information about the expected behavior for (All) appearing on a filter: A filter will always show the option for "All" when "Show (All)" is selected via filter customization, and will never show the option for "All" when "Show (All)" is not selected via filter customization.

Additional Information

Versions in which "Show (All)" option through filter customization menu works as expected:
  • 8.1
  • 8.2
  • 8.3
  • 9.0
  • 9.3.6+
  • 10.0.1+
Versions prior to 8.1, and 9.1-9.3.5 contain the known issue that was fixed in later versions.
