Issue

When clicking on a subscription email link from Outlook Web App, the following message might appear:

"This link has been disabled to protect your security"

Environment

  • Tableau Server
  • Microsoft Outlook Web App

Resolution

1. Stop Tableau Server
2. Go to All Programs > Tableau Server 8.2 > Configure Tableau Server on the Windows Start menu of the primary Tableau Server Machine.
3. In the Alerts and subscriptions tab, enter a new URL. URLs such as a local URL, a standard http: or https: URL, or a URL that begins with mailto: or ftp: behave correctly in OWA 2007.
4. Click OK (you may be asked to provide the Tableau Server Run As User password now)
4. Start Tableau Server

Cause

In OWA 2007, URLs which do not comply with safe URL standards are replaced with a link to the UrlBlockedError.aspx page on the Client Access Server. URLs such as a local URL, a standard http: or https: URL, or a URL that begins with mailto: or ftp: behave correctly in OWA 2007.
