Error "DataSourceException: Essbase database error" Connecting to Essbase

Issue

When you try to publish a workbook with a live Essbase connection, one of the following errors might occur:
 
DataSourceException: Essbase database error 1013095: You have been logged out by supervisor [CONSOLE], please login again. 

Or:
DataSourceException: Essbase database error 1042012: Network error [10057]: Cannot Send Data Network error [10057]: Cannot Send Data 

Or:
DataSourceException: Essbase database error 1042013: Network error [10057]: Cannot Receive Data Network error [10057]: Cannot Send Data 

Or:
DataSourceException: Essbase database error 1042006: Network error [10038]: Unable to connect to [<HOSTNAME:PORT>]. The client timed out waiting to connect to Essbase Agent using TCP/IP. Check your network connections. Also make sure that server port values are correct. 

Or:
DataSourceException: Essbase database error 1042011: The call to the function EssGetDatabaseNote failed. 

Or:
DataSourceException: Essbase database error 1040030: Invalid platform [10]. An application protocol error might exist between server and client processes.

Environment

  • Tableau Server 8.0.0, 8.0.1, or 8.0.2
  • Essbase

Resolution

Option 1

Upgrade to Tableau Server 8.0.3 or later versions. For more information, see Upgrading Tableau Server.

Option 2

  1. On the computer hosting Tableau Server, open the Command Prompt as an administrator and run one of the following commands:
    • On a 32-bit computer: cd "C:\Program Files\Tableau\Tableau Server\[version]\bin"
    • On a 64-bit computer: cd "C:\Program Files (x86)\Tableau\Tableau Server\[version]\bin"
  2. At the command prompt, run the following commands in order:
    • tabadmin set vizqlserver.enable_parallel_dashboards false
    • tabadmin configure 
    • tabadmin restart
