Error "Unable to Connect to Server" Connecting to Sybase IQ

Issue

When attempting to connect to Sybase IQ, the following error appears:

[Sybase][ODBC Driver][SQL Anywhere] Connection error: No IP address found for [servername]
Unable to connect to the server [servername]. Check that the server is running and that you have access privileges to the requested database.

Environment

  • Tableau Desktop
  • Sybase IQ

Resolution

In versions prior to 9.1, the connection dialog in Tableau Desktop corresponds to the following in Sybase:

server -> host
database -> server
schema -> database
