Error "There is no active connection to the data source" Refreshing R or SAS Data File Extract Via Command Line Utility

After upgrading to Tableau Server 10.0, when refreshing published extracts based on R or SAS data files via the Tableau Data Extract Command Line Utility (such as the command tableau refreshextract), the following error may be encountered:

    There is no active connection to the data source.


  • Tableau Desktop 
  • Tableau Server 10.0.0-10.0.1
  • Published extract of R or SAS data file


Option 1:

Upgrade to Tableau Server 10.0.2. For more information, see Upgrade Tableau Server.

Option 2: 

Refresh the extract using the Tableau Server UI.


This behavior is related to known issue with ID 562057 which has been corrected in a recent version.
