Error: "The Protocol is disconnected" When Attempting to Run an Extract Refresh

Issue

When attempting to run an extract refresh, the following message may occur:
The Protocol is disconnected; Unexpected Error

Additionally, this error might occur when:
  • attempting to create an extract using a Generic ODBC to SAS data server.
  • connecting using a DSN and the ODBC connector.

Environment

  • Tableau Desktop 10.0.0 - 10.0.6
  • Tableau Server 10.0.0 - 10.0.6
  • ODBC

Cause

This behavior has been fixed in a later version of Tableau Desktop.
