Issue

When you try to update or extract a Progress OpenEdge data source, the following error occurs: 
An error occurred while communicating with data source ', data source name.'. 
The connection to the data source might have been lost. 
The connection to the data source might have been lost. 
ExternalProtocol::PipeMessageSource::ReadBytes: Communication with the Tableau Protocol Server process was lost.

Environment

  • Tableau Desktop
  • Progress OpenEdge driver version 10.2A or earlier

Resolution

Upgrade the Progress OpenEdge driver to 10.2B or newer.
