Issue

As a user of a Site SAML site, you are unable to authenticate properly to the site when Tableau Server is configured for Local and Site SAML. The following error might occur:

That page cannot be accessed. Either it does not exist, or you do not have the necessary permissions.

Additionally, the above error message might also occur if the site is configured for Server wide and Site SAML.

Environment

Tableau Server 10.0

Resolution

Ensure the wgserver.saml.idpattribute.username is set to "username".

Open the command prompt (Run as Administrator) and navigate to the Tableau\Tableau Server\<version>\bin directory
  1. Stop Tableau Server
  2. Set the wgserver.saml.idpattribute.username value to default
  3. Save the configuration
  4. Start Tableau Server:
tabadmin stop
tabadmin set wgserver.saml.idpattribute.username -d
tabadmin config
tabadmin start

Cause

The Site SAML feature requires the wgserver.saml.idpattribute.username value to be set to "username" (default value) for the feature to work as designed.
