Error "Tableau has stopped working" and Other Issues Opening Tableau Desktop

Issue

When you try to open Tableau Desktop 8.2.0, one or more of the following issues might occur:
  • Tableau Desktop closes unexpectedly and displays the error: Tableau has stopped working and Fault Module Name: Qt5Network.dll.
  • Tableau Desktop opens, but you are unable to connect to data sources.
  • Tableau Desktop opens, but when you open a workbook and click the home icon, Tableau Desktop closes unexpectedly.

  • Tableau Desktop 8.2.0
  • Proxy

Resolution

Upgrade to Tableau Desktop 8.2.1. For more information, see Upgrading Tableau Desktop in the Tableau Knowledge Base.

Cause

This behavior is a known issue that has been corrected in more recent releases.
