Error: "Tableau Data Engine Error: 40636" When Refreshing Extract on Tableau Server

Issue

When refreshing large extracts on Tableau Server 10.1.0 and 10.1.1, a message is being received :
'Tableau Data Engine Error: 40636: UploadOpen: error creating file 'filepath',The system cannot find the path specified'

Environment

Tableau Server 10.1.0 - 10.1.1

Resolution

Option 1

Upgrade to Tableau Server 10.1.3. For more information, see Upgrading Tableau Server

Option 2

Adjust the sos.reconciler.gracePeriod setting:
  1. tabadmin stop
  2. tabadmin set sos.reconciler.gracePeriod 28800000
  3. tabadmin config
  4. tabadmin start

Cause

This behavior is related to a known issue (ID: 585668) that has been fixed in Tableau Server 10.1.3.
