Error "Sign in failed" With Unusually Large clustercontroller Logs

When you try to sign in to Tableau Server and the following error occurs:

Sign in failed

In addition, the logs in the clustercontroller folder are unusually large.


Tableau Server 9.0.0 - 9.0.2


Option 1

Upgrade to Tableau Server 9.0.3 or a later version. For more information, see Upgrading Tableau Server.

Option 2

Periodically run the following command to clean up the log files and restart Tableau Server:
  • tabadmin cleanup --reset-coordination --restart

Option 3

Run the following commands to change the log levels, preventing the log files from becoming too large:
  • tabadmin set zookeeper.log.level warn
    tabadmin set clustercontroller.log.level warn
    tabadmin config
    tabadmin restart


This behavior is a known issue which has been corrected in more recent versions.
