Published: 26 Nov 2014 Last Modified Date: 24 Aug 2022
Issue
When attempting to connect to a PostgreSQL database, the following error occurs:
server does not support SSL, but SSL was required
Environment
Tableau Desktop
Tableau Server
Resolution
Remove the .tdc file and restart the computer. In Tableau Desktop, the .tdc file is located in My Tableau Repository\Datasources. In Tableau Server, the .tdc file is located in the vizqlserver folder.
Cause
The .tdc file in place is for SSL-enabled PostgreSQL databases only. The Tableau Server PostgreSQL database does not use SSL.
