When you try to open a view in a browser, the following error might occur:

Internal Error
Tableau Server encountered an error reading or writing data during the last request.
When you then try to start Tableau Server (using tabadmin start), the following error occurs:

*** java.lang.RuntimeException: C++ Exception: IO Exception : status code = 720112

Also, the PosgreSQL log files might include an entry similar to the following:
2013-09-02 08:27:04.607 EDT 3956 ERROR:  could not extend file "<filename>": No space left on device
2013-09-02 08:27:04.607 EDT 3956 HINT:  Check free disk space.

Tableau Server

  1. Remove old log files. For more information, see Remove Log Files in Tableau Help.
  2. Run tabadmin start to start Tableau Server. If Tableau Server fails to start, restart the computer running Tableau Server.
  3. Run tabadmin start again. If Tableau Server still fails to start, on the computer running Tableau Server, open command prompt as an administrator and run one of the following commands:
    • On a 32-bit computer: cd "C:\Program Files\Tableau\Tableau Server\[version]\bin"
    • On a 64-bit computer: cd "C:\Program Files (x86)\Tableau\Tableau Server\[version]\bin"
  4. Type the following commands in order:
    • tabadmin init
    • tabadmin start

The drive on the computer running Tableau Server ran out of disk space, causing some or all of the Tableau Server processes to stop.

Additional Information

The default location for the PosgreSQL log files is C:\ProgramData\Tableau\Tableau Server\data\tabsvc\logs\pgsql.
