Error "Only one Single sign-on authentication can be enabled at one time..." Configuring Tableau Server for Mutual SSL

Issue

In the Tableau Server Configuration Utility, after you check the box for "Use mutual SSL" and click OK, the following error occurs:
Only one Single sign-on authentication can be enabled at one time. Please select only one of Automatic Login using Active Directory, Kerberos, SAML, OpenID or Automatic login with client certificates

Environment

  • Tableau Server
  • Mutual SSL

Resolution

Check through the tabs of the Tableau Server Configuration Utility and ensure that none of the following authentication methods are currently selected:
  • SAML
  • OpenID
  • Kerberos
  • Automatic Logon with Active Directory
Then try again to configure Mutual SSL. 

Cause

Tableau Server can only be configured for one single sign on method at a time.
