Error "no pg_hba.conf entry" In Admin Views When SSL "Required for all connections"

Issue

When accessing Admin views on Tableau Server the following errors may occur:

FATAL: no pg_hba.conf entry for host "::1", user "rails", database "workgroup", SSL off
Unable to connect to the server "localhost". Check that the server is running and that you have access privileges to the requested database.

Or
 

FATAL: no pg_hba.conf entry for host "127.0.0.1", user "rails", database "workgroup", SSL off
Unable to connect to the server "localhost". Check that the server is running and that you have access privileges to the requested database.

Environment

  • Tableau Server 10.0.0 - 10.0.3 and  10.1.0 - 10.1.1

Resolution

Upgrade to Tableau Server 10.0.5, 10.1.3 or a newer version. For more information, see Upgrade Tableau Server.
 

Cause

This behavior is related to known issue 589936 which has been fixed in more recent versions.
