Error "No datasource ... found in repository" Accessing Workbooks on Tableau Online

Issue

When accessing a workbook published to Tableau Online, the following error might occur: 
 
Unable to connect to the data source. Try connecting again. If the problem persists, disconnect from the data source and contact the data source owner. 
No datasource '<data source name>' found in repository class DataSourceException Unable to connect to the server "localhost". Check that the server is running and that you have access privileges to the requested database.

Environment

  • Tableau Online
  • Published data sources

Resolution

As a workaround, re-publish a local copy of missing data source to Tableau Online. 

 

Cause

This behavior is related to a known issue that is currently under investigation.
