Error "Licensing Check in Progress"

Issue

 When you open Tableau Desktop or start Tableau Server, you may see the following error:
Licensing Check In Progress
Tableau is still trying to determine the available licenses on your system. This task must complete before you can resume using Tableau.

  • Tableau Desktop
  • Tableau Server
  • Windows 7
  • Windows Server 2008 R2

Resolution

This message frequently is related to updates made to the operating system (OS) or to other integrated applications on the OS. If you see this message, complete the following steps:
  1. Close the dialog box or click the Exit button.
  2. Download and install the fix from the Microsoft Support site: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2617858
