Error "HTTP bad request" When Using a Salesforce Data Source

Issue

When connecting to a Salesforce data source, or refreshing an existing connection, an error similar to the following might occur:

HTTP bad request

<exceptionCode>InvalidJob</exceptionCode>
<exceptionMessage>Unable to find object: Lead
GROUP</exceptionMessage>

Environment

  • Tableau Desktop
  • Salesforce.com

Cause

Certificates needed for communication with the Salesforce.com data source are missing.

Additional Information

Tableau Desktop logs will show a certificate error prior to the "HTTP bad request" message:
 
NetworkReply::sslCtxCallback: failed to add certificate 'Microsoft Root Certificate Authority 2010' from store 'Root'
