Error "An error has occurred during connection ... Unable to properly calculate the domain" Performing Incremental Refresh

Issue

When performing an incremental refresh of a published data source, the following error might occur:
 
Tableau Data Engine Error: 8: An error has occurred during connection to 127.0.0.1:27043
No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it
Unable to properly calculate the domain for the field '[<fieldname>]'. Displayed data may be incorrect.

Environment

Tableau Online

Resolution

Option 1

Upgrade Tableau Desktop to version 8.2.5 or greater. For more information, see Upgrading Tableau Desktop.

Option 2

Use a full refresh.
  1. Create a new connection to the data source in Tableau Desktop.
  2. Extract the data, but do not select Incremental refresh.
  3. Publish the extracted data source to Tableau Server or Tableau Online.
  4. In Tableau Desktop, connect to the newly published data source.
  5. Refresh from the new data source.
