Issue

When you try to connect to Hortonworks Hadoop Hive, the following error occurs:
Failed to start process /Applications/Tableau Desktop/10.3.app/Contents/MacOS/tabprotosrv

Environment

  • Tableau Desktop 10.3
  • Hortonworks Hadoop Hive
  • Hortonworks ODBC driver 2.1.12
  • Mac OS

Resolution

Option 1:

Upgrade Tableau Desktop to 10.4 or newer. For more information, see Upgrade Tableau Desktop

Option 2:

Downgrade the ODBC driver to version 2.1.7 or earlier
