Error "The custom geocoding folder does not exist" Opening Tableau Desktop

Issue

When you open a workbook that contains geographic data, the following error might occur:

The custom geocoding folder has errors.
The custom geocoding folder does not exist.

 
In addition, geocoding measures, such as City or State, could be missing the longitude and latitude information.

Environment

  • Tableau Desktop 
  • Tableau Reader 

Cause

The Tableau Desktop or Tableau Reader installation is incomplete or corrupt.
