Error "Custom Geocoding cannot be saved to a network path"
Published: 22 Feb 2013 Last Modified Date: 29 Nov 2023
Issue
When you try to import custom geocoding, the following error might occur:
Custom Geocoding cannot be saved to a network path. Please move your Tableau Repository from <file path> to a folder on your local machine.
Environment
Tableau Desktop
Resolution
In Tableau Desktop, select File > Repository Location.
In the Select Repository Folder dialog box, choose a folder on the local computer for My Tableau Repository, and then click OK.
Restart Tableau Desktop.
Cause
The My Tableau Repository folder is on a network drive. Custom geocoding files can be saved anywhere, however when you import this custom geocoding, Tableau Desktop saves the imported custom geocoding to the My Tableau Repository folder, which must be located on a local drive.
