Published: 15 Apr 2014

Issue

When adding a Worker Server to a distributed installation of Tableau Server, the installation might fail and the following error might appear in the tabadmin.log file:

Error: Current user and <domain>\<user> not granted permissions to C:\Program Files\Tableau\Tableau Server

Environment

  • Tableau Server
  • Distributed installation

Resolution

  1. Configure the Tableau Server Run As user with a domain account.
  2. Ensure that the Run As user account has the necessary permissions as outlined in Run As Account Settings to Confirm.

Cause

Tableau Server is configured with a local user for the Run As user, or the configured user does not have sufficient permissions on the target computer.
