Issue

After upgrading to Tableau Server 10.2.2 and when interacting with a report, you are asked to enter your database credentials. After attempting to edit a connection in Tableau Server, the following error(s) may occur:

[Cloudera][DSI] (20032) Required setting 'UID' is not present in the connection settings.
or
[Cloudera][ODBC] (11570) Required credential settings are missing: {[UID] [PWD]}.
or
[Cloudera][ODBC] (10380) Unable to establish a connection with data source. Missing settings: {[PWD] [UID]}

Environment

  • Tableau Server 10.2.0
  • Windows Server 2012
  • Cloudera Hadoop Hive

Resolution

Option 1

As a Tableau Server Administrator, upgrade to Tableau Server 10.3.3 or 10.2.5. For more information, see Upgrading Tableau Server in Tableau Help.

Option 2

  1. Access the affected workbook on Tableau Server and download it to your local desktop.
  2. Open the local copy of the workbook in Tableau Desktop version 10.2.2 (having additional instances of Tableau Desktop on your computer will not impact licensing at all).
    • When the warning populates that the workbook will be upgraded to version 10.2 when it is saved, click OK to continue.
  3. Save the workbook (it can be the same name or a different one).
  4. Sign in to Tableau Server from Tableau Desktop 10.2 and re-publish the workbook.
  5. If the workbook name is the same, select Yes when prompted to overwrite.

Cause

This behavior is related to a known issue (ID: 654456) that has been fixed in a recent release of Tableau Server.
