Error "Cannot start the Tableau Bridge Service" when Configuring Bridge to Run Continuously

Issue

When setting Tableau Bridge (Sync Client) to Run continuously, the following error might occur:

Cannot start the Tableau Bridge Service
Or
Cannot start the Tableau Online Sync Service

Environment

  • Tableau Online 10.0.0
  • Windows 7
  • Tableau Bridge (formerly Sync Client)

Resolution

Ensure that the Windows user account being used to run Tableau Bridge ((Sync Client) service has administrative permissions on the computer.

Cause

The Windows user account does not have the appropriate permissions to modify the Tableau Bridge (Sync Client) service.
