Error "Authentication Failed Contact an administrator ..." Persists When Using Automatic Login

When using automatic login the following error might occur and persist for all users: 

Authentication Failed
Contact an administrator to make sure you have access to the server
To login as a different Windows user click here

Users are able to log in manually.


Tableau Server


Ensure that the domain nickname is correctly configured.
  1. Select the Users link in the Administration area on the left side of the page.
  2. Click the Domains link at the bottom of the list of users. 
  3. To modify the nickname, click the Edit link, type the correct nickname, then click Modify.


Tableau Server was configured incorrectly for Active Directory.
