Issue

When viewing a published workbook or dashboard, the following error might occur:

An error occurred communicating with the server (504).
This may be a temporary network condition. Please retry the operation.
If this condition persists, contact your system administrator.

 

Environment

  • Tableau Server
  • Proxy or load balancer

Resolution

Work with your IT team to increase the proxy or load balancer timeout setting on Tableau Server.
