Issue

When viewing a published workbook in Internet Explorer, one of the following errors might occur:

Browser Processing Error
An error occurred processing the server response

Or:

An error occurred processing the server response

Environment

  • Tableau Server
  • Tableau Online
  • Tableau Public
  • Internet Explorer

Resolution

Option 1

Upgrade to the current version of Internet Explorer.

Option 2

Use a different browser, such as Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome.

If the above is unsuccessful, work with your internal IT team to troubleshoot network connectivity.

Cause

The 12031 error is an Internet Explorer error passed through to Tableau Server. Microsoft has corrected this issue in more recent releases of Internet Explorer.
