Email Subscription Icon Missing on Redshift Views

Issue

When you publish workbooks with live connections to Amazon Redshift to Tableau Server, the email subscription icon (the envelope) might not appear on the published views.

Environment

  • Tableau Server 8.1.0 - 8.1.7
  • Amazon Redshift

Resolution

Option 1

Upgrade to Tableau Desktop 8.1.8 or a later version. For more information, see Upgrading Tableau Desktop in Tableau Help

Option 2

  1. Open the workbook in Tableau Desktop.
  2. Navigate to Data > <data source name> > Edit Connection.
  3. In Step 1, select Require SSL, re-establish the connection to the database, and then click OK.
  4. Re-publish the workbook. For more information, see Publishing Workbooks in Tableau Help.

Cause

This behavior is a known issue that has been corrected in more recent releases.
