Data does not Refresh from OneDrive

Issue

When connecting Tableau with a OneDrive connector, the data is not refreshing on Tableau Server.

Environment

  • Tableau Server 10 and later versions
  • OneDrive Connector
  • XLS documents

Resolution

Instead of using an embedded password, publish the workbook with "Embed 'user@onedriveaccount.com'" (ensure to replace the information with the relevant user account), under Data Sources in the Manage Data Sources window - Authentication.

Cause

In order to refresh, the Onedrive data source needs to authenticate with the document owner.
