Cannot Successfully Connect to IBM DB2 Server

Issue

Cannot connect to IBM DB2 when multiple drivers are installed, even if one of the installed drivers is the correct one.

Environment

  • Tableau Desktop 10.2.1
  • Windows 10
  • DB2

Resolution

Tableau might be opting for the wrong driver or a missing driver by default. Uninstall all other drivers or change the default DB2 driver on the machine using IBM's database wizard on the IBM Knowledge Center. 

Additional Information

If multiple Version 9 copies are installed, you cannot remove the default DB2 copy. If you want to remove the default DB2 copy, switch the default DB2 copy to one of the other DB2 copies before uninstalling. For more information about switching the default DB2 copy, see the db2swtch command.
