Question

How to set up Tableau Server in a perimeter network (also known as DMZ, demilitarized zone, and screened subnet).

Environment

  • Tableau Server
  • Perimeter network (DMZ)

Answer

Tableau Server components should not be installed on a perimeter network. However, you can install a reverse proxy server on the perimeter network. Install Tableau Server within the corporate firewall. Install a reverse proxy server on the perimeter network to direct traffic to Tableau Server. This will allow the reverse proxy to communicate through the firewall to Tableau Server.
