Question

How to show areas of the Tableau workspace that are not visible anymore, such as the data window, cards and shelves, and status bar after accidentally turning them off.

Environment

Tableau Desktop

Answer

Some areas may not display because the Presentation Mode option was accidentally turned on, cards were closed, or the Data window was minimized.

Turn off presentation mode

When Presentation Mode is turned on, all of the shelves and Tableau environment are hidden. Only the view and supporting cards show against a white background.
  1. Turn off presentation mode by clicking the Exit Presentation Mode button in the toolbar in the bottom right corner.
  2. When you exit Presentation Mode, the Data window is once again displayed as well as the shelves, toolbar, and menus.

Show and hide cards

Another reason some of the Tableau workspace may not show is that you've closed or hidden cards. You can show and hide cards using the checking and un-checking cards in the Show/Hide Cards  menu in the toolbar.

Minimize the Data window

You can minimize the Data window by clicking the double arrow button in the upper right corner of the Data window. When you minimize the Data window, it collapses to the bottom status bar. You can show the Data window by clicking the same arrow icon again.
